Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

Just got off the phone with Amazon to see if they had any kind of partnership with Toys For Tots. The gent was unable to find anything after asking around.

He did point out though that Amazon is offering special promotions for various toys and I found a page that lists the top "wanted" toys. Man, toys are expensive these days.

I'm guessing we should try to satisfy age groups...5 through 12??? Dunno.

Still waiting on the Marines but I have a feeling they are eyeballs deep with this.

I have Amazon Prime and the cutoff date for two day delivery is 12/22. That's cutting it a little close and would like to order tonight or first thing tomorrow if possible.

Sometimes the Amazon reps are.. Useless. Did he even mention the Amazon smile program? I know with that program you can select a organization and a portion of the purchase price goes to the charity. I know St. Judes is one of them. Look into that before you complete the order-you could be helping two charities at once.

I have no clue how this is supposed to work, but whatever it is it seems to be a nice idea. Just sent the (very) few points I have.

Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

Two things.

1. It's pretty tight on timing so I'd like to suggest that you may just want to use your cash to buy the presents and then keep the card money, Robie. Online ordering and getting it in time might not work out. I'm sure we'd all be fine with it if you are.

2. For presents you should be able to get a lot of stuff under the $10 mark. I have about 20 birthdays a year and the same presents always work. Kids blow through craft supplies so more is always useful and you don't have to worry about duplicates.
-Play-doh, this is always a favorite and good up to about 8-10 years old.
-Markers, washable and non-washable.
-Crayon sets.
-Sticker books/coloring books.
-Bead kits for necklaces/bracelets.

If you want to get a little more "toy" oriented stuff I'd say spiderman(he's always a fav) and My Little Pony dolls. The girls love these "Mystery Mini" pony things even more than the big dolls, they trade them.

Personally, I think you should just buy like 20 each of the different craft stuff and call it a day. It's all around $5 so they can either have gifts for 60 kids or a mix of gifts for 20 kids, whichever they need.

You're the man for doing this Robie!

Ehh do girls still play with barbies? Just asking. Like many tomboys I'd turn her head around etc. I did love Legos, my yoyo, and easy bake- they've come a long way. The cool thing about easy bakes is that you use it with your siblings and friends or by yourself. Oh and connect 4, I'm not ashamed to say I still play it on occasion.

The way I did that is a little complicated for such short notice. Besides, I don't have my boy handy to work out a link like he did for that one.

Just looked at the beginning of the thread. Maul and me just kind of volunteered Robie, and he accepted without hesitation.

Yea I'm still on bed rest so when Robie showed interest I just shoved my points on him.. He was stuck then

But anyone who has been here very long knows that this isn't Robies first rodeo..
Robie has taken the lead in helping out a board member before..

When he showed interest it was a lock..
