Can the points situation be worked out so we can do this next year through Robie?

I will be talking with the company tomorrow about a way we can do stuff like this in the future.

Is it too late? I say never!! Here comes my points!! What about cash can we setup something for a wire transfer? I just got paid from some slow clients and would like to toss a few hundred into the mix if possible.

Or should I hunt down the marines to give cash?

[email protected], procrastination strikes me again. I didn't think you would get it done, so I held my points. I'll give 'em up next time, and I'll have at least 5 more.

Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

Start planning for next year now (or other times the need arises).

If it can be done any points I accumulate can be put in a "bank" that way management knows what the total pooled points would be and can plan accordingly.

Seeing as Robie is the easily volunteered I nominate him to be our rep with management.

Thank you to those who made this happen.

Tom

Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

Okee-dokee...
First, thank-you to Cricket and Juan. I really appreciate this. My sincere apologies if I stepped out of line at all with my posts and pm's.

I went ahead this morning and put a whole boat-load of toys in my Amazon wish list.

After getting the word it was a "go", I went through and redeemed all the points for Amazon gift cards...$20.00 at a time. I lost count but it's somewhere around 70-80 gift cards. The page tells me they all are processing. I'm not sure how long that all takes but will start placing the orders as soon as all the cards are confirmed.

Whew!

Once the toys are actually ordered, I'll do a screen shot or something to show everyone what they bought. I hope everyone is pleased with the selections as I tried to cover ages and genders.

So, there we are.

Thanks again to everyone for making this happen.

Hopefully, the toys will arrive by Tuesday and I can get them to a Toys For Tots location.

That's it for now.

I don't know how I've still got those point showing. After all the gift cards, it said I only had 600+ left. I'll use those up if I'm able to.

Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

For future point donations. I think we should work with CT to arrange the donation. I suspect that if a member cashes in all the points that it would need to be declared on their tax return. The donation write-off would probably negate the tax but it's just another headache.

On the other hand. It appears CT might have just done an accidental 50/50 match. That's kinda funny.

So how are you going to return the points to CT if you redeemed them for gift cards?

I haven't redeemed anything yet...waiting on confirmations. I don't know if they all can be reversed or what...

I am guessing that they will cancel the redemptions, take away the points, and donate the dollars directly to T4T....guessing.

Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

I would of really liked it better to see Robie buy the toys and donate. Anyone can donate money, but physically donating toys to babies, well there's something about that, that's really cool. But CT is still doing what has to be done and that's appreciated!

Agree totally, but given the time crunch this is definitely an awesome solition regardless. Again I may be wrong too in how they are going to handle it...it's just my take on it. Either way still very cool they worked it out for us. That is some serious toy money!

Robie thanks again for all your effort! Way to run with the ball!

Re: Hey, I Got A Question...

Thanks Juan and Cricket! I'm glad we were able to work this out! Making toys available to a child who would otherwise go without them means a lot to me.

When I was 4 years old in the mid-70's, my family had faced some very difficult years financially. As a last ditch effort, my dad spent his last money to move our family across 5 states to start a new life seeking better opportunities for us.

At the time I didn't know what was going on or why we moved in with our Uncle but after we got settled in, I woke up the next morning and there was this big magical tree and a bunch of toys under it! It was the best day EVER! For my sister and I, this was really our very first Christmas.. and it was all made possible with donated toys.

Because it was our first Christmas, we didn't fully understand what was going on other than the fact that we KNEW that the toys were for us. The joy that I felt that day came from the efforts of the local town toy drive and because of their efforts, that's one Christmas that I have NEVER forgotten.
