The pilot might be a little on the crazy side. Looks fun though.

Watching that helicopter reminded me of a Golden Retriever playing fetch.

I don't know exactly how much it costs to put one up in the air, but something to me doesn't seem right either. Who is loading these on the other end?

Nothin special. We did that stuff with a 40 ton bridge crane swingin 60,000lb moulds for injection machines.

You just have to know how to stop the swing. Generally, you do that by initially stopping, then when the object reaches its apex, move the hoist in its direction. That removes the momentum of the object.

It's all about timing when you go to take the momentum back. You can do this with a brick on a rope.

Helicopters are expensive, so you can almost bet the ground crew was there well in advance prepping the loads.

Heli-Logging is very common around here.

Little different choker set up than high line.

Choker Setter/Hookers have a large loop off the choker. Slap it on to the helicopter hook which has an auto release.

Pretty impressive to watch & fast...

A little slower, but they poured the foundation for a 6000 sf house on my dads lake this way with about the same level of skill. No road access.

Just out of high school, I missed out of a job working for the pilot because I'm an idiot. He asked if I had a license and I thought he meant pilots license so I said no, thinking wow, high expectations for an 18 yo. Turns out he wanted to make sure I could drive to run errands. I would have been out salvaging wrecked airplanes and other neat remote trips in Alaska.

That's one of my favorite videos. One of the pilots on the CDU fb page, was explaining this.
They get paid per turn and I think there was a point system on placing the hook in the tenders hand. I think each bundle is 10-15 trees.

Have you seen this one?
