Got my big gift, a Fein HEPA vac. Can't tell you how it works cause they sent the wrong hose with it. Instead of having a 2 1/4" end on one side it had a 1 1/2" end on both sides and won't plug into the vacuum

Not a happy camper. Gonna have to take it back and get one with the right hose.

Re: Happy Birthday Leo G

Up until that it was splendid. Went to my sisters for dinner and the wife invited a few of my friends over. We had the usual..birthday cake with a song and a few drinks while we sat around a fire. Good time.

Got home and opened the box only to find I couldn't hook up the hose. Was planning on using it tomorrow in the shop to sand some backs for kitchen cabinets.

Guess the little 4 gallon Rigid is gonna be used instead.

Been using that one all week myself to clean up after the 16 contractor bags of concrete I pulled out of a bathroom on slab. I use the Ridgid bags with it. Went through 4 of them in 3 days. I like that little vacuum.

Re: Happy Birthday Leo G

My little rigid has a pleated filter. It's noisy, just like all shop vacs are. After about 4 hours of sanding using the rigid I decided what I wanted for my birthday gift -- a quiet vacuum. I sanded another 8 hours after that 4 with my protective earmuffs on.

Either it's the wrong hose or I'm clueless about how to operate a vacuum

I guess I'm going to Coastal tomorrow early. Sucks I couldn't use it. I was sanding all my backs to the cabinets today.

Re: Happy Birthday Leo G

Here is the hose with ends that are both the same. One of them should be a 2 1/4" to fit the vacuum.

It fits in the hole, but has a 1/4" all around it. Not gonna suck that good with that kind of a fit.

Happy Birthday Leo, I'll have to adjust my mental image when I read your posts from now on. I guess I always thought you'd look a little more.... well....er...um...crabby. Kind of like Walt Kowalski in Gran Torino

Not a happy camper. Gonna have to take it back and get one with the right hose.
I think you'll like it. Easy to roll around without tipping...quiet and the exhaust blows downward so it doesn't hit you in the face or whatever is in the way.

Re: Happy Birthday Leo G

I got the new hose. The Mirka sander is louder than the vacuum. Nice thing about the auto start is that it will kick on even at the lowest speed on the sander. My iSocket wouldn't. I also got a 3 pack of paper filters and a 1 micron filter. I have the HEPA, not sure if I want to waste it on sanding dust, wait for an RRP condition.
