a buddies helper went to the california shows and chicago shows taking almost two weeks off

we decided he was making too much money and needs to take a pay cut

I saw them in 1970 in the Fillmore east, in NYC. Pigpen was with them then, and he cooked eggs on stage.

Allman Bros was the warm-up act.
And the Dead played for about 5 hours ( with an acoustic set in the middle). Concert ended with a 50 min version of LoveLights!
left the theater at around 630 am.
