Nice rocks...

Leo G 05-24-2018 11:58 AM

Wow. Damn. I'll keep praying.

Deckhead 05-24-2018 06:13 PM

Damn dude. You guys at Manatee Memorial or Blake?

Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help. Dinner, walk the dog for you, whatever. Lemme know.

Prayers sent.

TimNJ 05-24-2018 07:24 PM

Added to my list.
Tell her to hang in there.

Easy Gibson 05-24-2018 09:38 PM

I don't even know what to say, but I promise you I'll do whatever I can to keep sending vibes your way.

If it's in any way comforting or helpful to know that people from all over the country are thinking about you and your girl, consider this New Jersey checking in.

Good luck, man. Be strong for her. She'll make it, but she's going to need your help. Probably didn't think that return favor was going to get called in this quick, huh?

Good lord yall have a long break coming. We have you and Kelley in our prayers.

Bad comes in threes. Think yall defintely hit your quota. Hoping for good to come in 10s for you

KAP 05-25-2018 11:05 AM

Man, that hits close to home...

With your obvious love and loyalty for one another demonstrated through your actions, and the way you both have each others backs, in good times and bad, it sounds like the two of you were made for each other...

Scary thing(s) to go through, but at least your blessed to have each other to go through it with...

Prayers for continued healing...

sunkist 05-26-2018 09:20 PM

Thanks to all for the prayers and good wishes.

It has been some long days yesterday (Friday) Kelley had some tests sonogram, cardiogram, and a MRI, she freaked out a little with the MRI because of being in the tube she had to have a Zanex, the doctors were looking to see if she had a stroke, the news at the moment is good.

So she still is in AFIB so now there is talk of a Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), its like a pace maker except it can deliver both low and high shocks where as pace maker only delivers low.

I guess these things are pretty cool the doc's can do a c/k up on you using the internet, and after its installed on the morning's she is a little sluggish I can get the booster cables out of the truck, just need to find out where to clip the cables .

hdavis 05-26-2018 09:51 PM

Good to hear there is some option. You'll have to figure out the jumper cables yourself...

Is she oriented and knows what's going on?

B.D.R. 05-26-2018 09:58 PM

Wishing you and your wife all the best.
I know it gets tough sometimes.
Hang in there.

For the most part, she does not remember all and is getting things out of order but she is getting better, she can make it to the bathroom on her own she has color but still looks tired.

I don't get too emotional about most things, but I know that I will be devastated if anything happens to my wife. Thoughts and prayers for both of you.

So the hospital let Kelley go home on Sunday so my race day did not go as planed got to see the last 10 laps of the 500 and no Coke race at all, glad to have her home.

Kelley makes appointment to see her heart doctor Wednesday morning 9.30 I walk the dog go for my radiation get home my wife is in trouble again went down three times in the bathroom trying to get ready, then goes down in the bedroom cutting open her knee on the bed frame get her up and dressed putting on her flops at the front door she goes down again.

Now I am on the phone calling for a ambulance she gets up and makes me hang up, off to the ER again and its pissing down hard, in the ER heart rate through the roof and no blood pressure back up stairs in the cardiac unit, so now tomorrow Friday at 10.00 am my wife goes under the knife to have the Defib implanted.

Never ever thought this thread would go from me fighting cancer to my wife needing heart surgery

Ugh. Couldn't even imagine.

Still praying.

hdavis 05-31-2018 08:13 PM

This is the only race that counts....

It sounds like Kelley can be stubborn - That's a good thing.

More prayers for you both!

Excerpt from the manual for Kelley's Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator page 71.

Sexual intimacy.

Exercise testing at the hospital will help your doctor program your device setting so you should not get a SHOCK during sex . If you receive a SHOCK during sex , your partner may feel a tingling sensation . The SHOCK is not harmful to your partner. Be sure to let your doctor know if you receive a shock so he or she can consider reprogramming your device.

So Kelley had the ICD implanted Friday morning and got discharged today (Sunday) so she is in bed and tired we will see over the next few days, We have a box that connects with our wireless router that integrates the implant and sends the info over the web to the doctors office.

The implant she has is a new version the battery life 15 years ? its only the 16th one implanted, so after reading page 71 looks like the booster cables can stay in the truck .

On a side note if you find yourself in Manatee Memorial Hospital I can recommend the pot roast the patient food in that place is great.
