The racks might have been overloaded, But it certainly shows you what could happen at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

I'm going to be less annoyed when they have the aisle I need blocked off next time.

Pretty obvious those racks were overloaded many times their rated specs. Doesn't matter, the cascade of events was like dominoes. Wonder how many died.

Re: Fork Lift Driving 101

If you look closely at the video the slight nudge the forklift did to the rack in no way should have caused that catastrophe.

That’s what the driver thought.

Did you see how the rack coming down pushed that forklift to the side like a rag doll?

If you've never seen this German forklift training video, it's pretty funny.

Re: Fork Lift Driving 101

I had a part time job in highschool driving a forklift unloading UPS trucks then putting them in inventory. I drove both types, mostly Hi-Lo type. I remember losing a pallet or two double stacking the top shelf.

It was challenging at times. I liked it. I remember Vanba White & maybe Loni Anderson stickers plastered all over the one machine lol

Re: Fork Lift Driving 101

25 years ago, at a grocery warehouse, a saw a kid using an electric pallet jack...one that they drive....and they act like they are on skateboards...they hunker down and lean into and out of the turns....and haul ass....and he missed the dock plate and dropped between two trailers. I left before I ever heard how he made out....

Re: Fork Lift Driving 101

Now in N.J. at least all racking above 10’ needs to be engineered and plans stamped and inspected. Some need geological engineering and 3’ thick footings extended a distance past footprint

If you haven't read the Darwin Awards, they are entertaining in a strange way. Well at least to me.

Here is the forklift training video award. (Wear your seatbelt.)

Re: Fork Lift Driving 101

When I worked at a wholesale building material company, there was a lot of that racking filled with heavy items like doors and roofing materials. Morons would routinely ram into the uprights much harder than that and bend the crap out of them without anything like that happening.
