Yes, looks do matter. If they don't want to be looking at your face day after day, they may pass. Normal stuff.

Re: Forgot To Shave

Sorry, thought everyone knew how to use Google

Nothing wrong with a beard or no beard. This one is just a little over the top. At least on me, I look like more of a tool than normal.

As far as my normal facial hair, I shave once a week out of laziness and so a dust mask works with some effectiveness.

I keep hearing about a Ron Burgundy and his world famous podcast.
I have no idea who this person is, and I am refusing to care enough to google it. Some of us are just like that.

Well, you did go to a costume party in March. Probably had fancy drinks and caviar.

I gotta agree with your customers.

Re: Forgot To Shave

I shave when I need to.

I used to shave every day when I was a white collar worker. I hated it. I have sensitive skin and tough whiskers.

If I'm going out for a new job and new client...estimate...yup...clean shaven.

If I'm working on a remodel by myself and the only person I'm going to see that day is the girl taking my money for a cup of coffee....I don't bother.

If I'm going in to change a light bulb for an old, existing customer....chances are we know each other well enough that they don't care if I missed a day or three. They are just happy to see someone who's not going to screw them to the wall over a light bulb.

If they do have a problem.....voila...they become non-customers.

Re: Forgot To Shave

it was very common (1980's) for me to visit clients after work.

there i was, boots, blue jeans, t-shirt & maybe a long sleeve flannel.

i was just part of the crew.

pulled up to a gated estate one after noon, knocked on the door and was greeted by an obviously armed security guy.

said i was here to see so & so, his words, "i doubt it" and he shut the door.

before i got to the truck he came running up, apologized, and said that i was indeed welcome and expected.....

happened on several various other occasions also....

just how i was then & you just got what you got....

never lost a job due to my appearance.

Re: Forgot To Shave

I usually warn new customers that I'll be a bit grungy. It has never lost me a job that I know of.

If I don't shave every day, I get mistaken for a porcupine.
