With a sign posted on the front and back doors...

Warning...Loose snakes in house.

If anyone has to enter the house because of the fire, we had no choice but to leave our snakes.
We let them out so they would at least have a chance.

Please be careful when entering the house.

Re: Fire Near Me!

I got the call way to early this morning. One hell of a fight to save our piece of hill. Thankfully a crew showed up with a tanker when the fire was 100ft away, cut a hand line and back burned it right behind our fence. Fountain Grove is GONE! This is my neighbors house up the driveway. I had dropped an 80 ft dead pine 10 feet behind it last year. Our 7 years of forestry work clearing land paid off. Our house fared the best out of all of them.

Re: Fire Near Me!

Damn, what a photo! 100 feet away, hard to imagine how intense that must have been. Fires are absolutely terrifying, never been that close to one and hope to never have the experience but it sounds like you did great!

Don't have to say this but will anyway, you guys be really on your toes, such a dangerous situation.

Did you make it through the night at home, or did you end up having to bug out?

Meanwhile in Mendocino, 3 confirmed dead, highway 101 closed, phone and internet out, whole neighborhoods wiped out.

Oh, and some jackholes decided to rob a marijuana farm and get into a shootout while all this is going on.

And some others are looting.

Re: Fire Near Me!

Good to hear it's past you Mike. My daughter in Santa Rosa is back at home, it went past her already, they just don't have power now. My other daughter is still waiting to see what the day brings.....it's still headed this direction/her whole area is evacuated. Glad I'm far enough in town that it isn't a worry for any of my houses, just all this smoke and ash *cough*

My inlaws are in the evacuation zone and got the order to bugout (more of a suggestion really) but decided to stay.

They are fine for now and don't expect anything to happen to their place.

So far there does not seem to be any trouble with looters or such.

Re: Fire Near Me!

Getting a new house is nice. But not that way.

Glad you made it through. Now start lambasting those politicians and get them to start cutting fire breaks into the forest. How stupid can they be?
