Re: Ethics Question, What Would You Do?

All I was sayin is some times discretion is the better part of valor or however that goes. Sometimes not. I feel bad for this kid with the jacked up thumb but if I have a family to support and there's a good chance I loos my job if I start autographing his accusations than I'm gonna have a real hard think before I do shiz. Like I said earlier- at this point in my life I'd probably still sign it but that's because I believe God will take care of ya if your doing right. I didn't always used to believe that.

I've never seen a poll with over a couple voters with a unanimous 100%.

We all know what's right. It's just how and when to do it and CYA at the same time.

Employer is DEFINITELY a chit bag if he expects his men to lie for him.

Re: Ethics Question, What Would You Do?

Thanks for all the responses, at first I had thought to myself that I would absolutely sign for him, then I had started having these second thoughts. Thanks for setting me straight that my gut instinct is the right thing to do and I will sign.

I actually saw the guy who is laid off the other day and told him I don't know if I can sign. It was hard to say to him and instantly could see the disappointment. Needless to say he will be getting a call from me apologizing for having the second thoughts on the issue and that I know what is truly the right thing to do.

I am still currently employed for the DB's I am in the midst of trying to purchase a home and if I leave my job before getting the mortgage I will be stuck renting. So the day I find out if my mortgage will go through is the day I leave this company to go back to doing the work I love for the family business.

Thanks again for the advise!

Sorry about the loss of your brother. Hopefully y'all made up first.

Thanks Roofcheck. It's hard to say but me and my brother just weren't getting along. There was a lot of sarcasm and not much of being a team. Six months before he passed I walked off the job over a dumb argument (but aren't they all). Over that next six months we rebuilt our relationship as brothers and were absolutely friends again and on good terms. I am thankful that I spent the last months of his life being brothers. I don't think I would be able to forgive myself if we had still been working together and there was a blowup at work on Friday and Monday he was gone.

Me and my father have always worked well together so I'm not worried about going back with him. He has a ton of work lined up. Just going to be tough to get him back into the swing of things without my brother.

Re: Ethics Question, What Would You Do?

I wouldn't even worry about your job. The DB employer is the exact type of employer lawyers love to go after Wrongful termination is the legal term, I think.

But you are afraid of loosing potential sub work from the same employer?

There is so much work out there I wouldn't be afraid of finding another Company to sub siding from.

Re: Ethics Question, What Would You Do?

Yea loosing my job isn't number one concern. There is one project we bid on that is a full years worth of work. But on the other hand my dad has been on his own for 14 years and hasn't had a lapse in work yet. There have been times where we thought we may have time off but something would always come in and it would pick back up again.

I know it isnt easy. But once again a clique, the right thing rarely is.

Your ex boss is a chit bag. The exact example of greedy capitalism that gives the government ammunition to control commerce.

The dudes that made fun of that guy sound like douche bags. The kind of wusses who picked on the chess club and looked the other way when a dude their own size was coming. Real big surprise they chose security over integrity. Exactly the kind of man you should avoid at all costs.

Like Beard said, I'd much rather look the good guy in the eye than a scum bag.
Bears repeating, IMO...
