E. Coli Warning

E. coli warning,

Romaine lettuce is unsafe to eat in any form, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday in a broad alert in response to a new outbreak of illnesses caused by a particularly dangerous type of E. coli contamination.

The CDC told consumers to throw away any romaine lettuce they may already have purchased. Restaurants should not serve it, stores should not sell it, and people should not buy it, no matter where or when the lettuce was grown. It doesn’t matter if it is chopped, whole head or part of a mix. All romaine should be avoided.

Went through this in the summer.

Maybe give up on Romaine.

Salmonella and E. coli have been popping up lately.

I said the same thing about Chipolte. After they scrubbed the place top to bottom and then did it again and still had the problem very soon after. Almost like someone was going in there and spritzing the are with E Coli to run the place out of business.

Wonder who is romaine lettuce's competition?

lololol - its the damned spinach growers underworld gang.

The rutabaga growers are waiting on the sidelines - looking for that opportune moment to step in and seize the market from both.

Re: E. Coli Warning

So you don't seriously think that competing growers would do something like this to gain market share? Especially out of country growers like Mexico and Brazil (only to name a few) who have to compete with the US selling to the US and other places?

I'll likely be blamed on a single pig roaming through the fields and chitting all over the place.

Not unless you got a tainted one. We're throwing out two 3-packs. I'm not so lucky.

Re: E. Coli Warning

I've been eating a bunch of it, comes out my garden tho so I'm not too worried about e-coli. Darn near everything else has died from the freezes but the lettuce is going strong.

Same here. Gonna die tonight though. I don't think it's going to handle 13ºF well.

Re: E. Coli Warning

I finished off the salad for lunch as planned. I'm still here.

I don't quite get the hysteria of this, unless there is something the CDC is not telling us. The entire country is suppose to throw all the romaine lettuce, everywhere? Kind of crazy if you ask me.

Re: E. Coli Warning

Before the warning came out, I went to a game dinner with Leo, the food was delicious unfortunately this was before the warning came out and the salad had Romain lettuce, the next day let’s just say I was king of the throne.....From what I understand 180 people came down with the same issue.

Oh chit, literally.

I guess you recovered by now eh? Leo was unaffected or did not eat the lettuce?

Re: E. Coli Warning

They're supposed to wash that stuff before serving or packaging it... makes ya' wondering who's handling it...

Either that or who's crapping all over the salad?

Re: E. Coli Warning

Wouldn't cooking it take care of the problem?

Grilled romaine hearts are a favorite. Just tell people to cook it.
