Don't Drink Don't Smoke?

Another thread brought this up briefly, and I was surprised how many said they don't.

Personally, I don't drink or smoke, for a plethora of reasons. Not that I'm judging people who do.

Who else doesn't? Why not? Religion? Health? Money? Apathy?

What do all you hardcore tobacco and alcohol indulgers think of such ridiculous people?

Re: Don't Drink Don't Smoke?

I dont smoke (except the occasional cigar), and I drink beer but only 1 or 2 per sitting, I don't drink liquor too much. And I call myself a Christian, ha.

I don't have a problem with people who smoke or drink, as long as it isn't 2 packs a day or an alcoholic.

I don't drink. I have nothing against it, some people shouldn't drink, I'm one of them. I learned early, when I was young, and I quit.

I quit smoking too, again I quit when I was young. It annoyed my girlfriend at the time.

Re: Don't Drink Don't Smoke?

Quit smoking 17 years ago. I have three-five drinks a week. I started mixing drinks recently and am currently on a Mojito kick.

I too am a Christian, and believe that our bodies are our temples and we should not trash our temple. That is the number one reason I stopped smoking. But I am not militant and do not look down on Christians who do smoke. I am not their Holy Spirit and if and when they quit it's between them and God.

Drinking is also laid out in the Bible, it says not to become drunk with wine and warns of what drinking too much strong drink and wine can do to you. So I only have one, maybe two at a time. Just enough to relax.

Re: Don't Drink Don't Smoke?

I never really smoked much, but did... Now I don't.

Used to drink enough to kill most people in a night too frequently... Now I don't drink at all.

Really noticed a positive change in my health and it's nice to be able to drive everywhere when going to parties/events.

I quit smoking 13 years ago, and I think I drank two beers last year. I don't have anything against either one, I just chose not to do 'em

Never smoked, and rarely drink. For me it is a combination of setting a good example for my kids, my faith, and just plain old maturity.

I wish Christians would do for the earth what they do for their bodies. Why one and not the other?

As far as what I do? Not telling.

I don't see why you need faith to want to treat your body (and everything for that matter) right. Never smoked, drink reasonably.

I'm not christian but I do try to emulate Jesus: Do carpentry and be ripped.

Re: Don't Drink Don't Smoke?

Never smoked. Never wanted to. Used to drink quite a bit. Slowed down and last spring, stopped all together. Started getting really sick from drinking even small amounts. I kind of miss it when I go out, as I had a lot of fun drinking, but it wasn't worth being sick for anymore.

I can't say I wouldn't ever drink again. If I can figure out what makes me so sick from even one or two beers or mixed drinks and get it sorted out, I would definitely enjoy a few drinks with dinner or a night out with friends.

Re: Don't Drink Don't Smoke?

neither. quit smoking when my first boy was born. 18 years ago. drank when i was a kid, but never liked the taste, or the "buzzed" feeling. so stopped that too around 20ish. cool with it, just not for me. I think just the opposite. surprised to find out how many of my friends get **** faced every night,,,sounds like id have to have another job to keep up with them. $5 a pack for smokes now, and $20 for alcohol a night +.....

Just a dip of Copenhagen in the evenings. Can't do it during the day, just gets in the way. But I've got to have one when I'm doing paper work at night, reading, etc.

I drink. Socially, sometimes with dinner. Rarely in excess.

Occasional cigar.
