Re: Diets

I haven't eaten bread or anything wheat in months. It's amazing how much better I feel. Doc said I had borderline prediabetes. After stopping bread everything changed in me. I'm now thinking I am gluten intolerant.

My cardiologist told me “ If you want to loose weight, just eat half of what you been eating. I guarantee it! “

went to docs about my knee , and got weighed .
252 on a 5`8" frame. shocked me
started the carbless thing
also made a salad which had - lettuce , tomatoes , celery , onions, carrots , cut up zucchini , and then i threw in cooked red beans , for the protein . i just put balsamic vinegar on it
some nights , i`ll throw a whole can of solid white tuna in it .

thru the day , i have a couple pieces of chicken or some kind of meat that was cooked at home . a big bag of grapes or orange , or apple
drink as much water as i can
i do spurge , and have a soda now and then.

breakfast , either i make 3 eggs , no spices or anything , maybe some cheese..., or oatmeal

i really don`t drink these days , just don`t have the desire .

i feel great
i have great energy
lost about 7 pounds
knee is actually hurting less
doc said " every pound you lose is like 4 pounds off your knee"
i do cheat a little now and then , i can't be a fanatic.
i do get 7 - 8 hours of sleep a night ( wife hates it . in the middle of a movie i`ll just go to bed or fall asleep on the couch . i hate being tired in mornings.

but so far so good

i got about 30 pair of shorts , and pants ,with 8 , and 6 inch waste that are waiting for me .
i`ve been a size 40 for a long time

Just a heads up those apples, grapes and oatmeal turn into a surprising amount of carbs.

A lady that did some cleaning for my Mom had a husband...executive at a local dental supply/research company...jogged to work every morning...a couple of miles...never smoked...drank in moderation...had a great physical 6 weeks before he dropped dead jogging to work.

Doctor said he was probably dead before he hit the ground.

You just never know.

True, but the difference is the fiber. When your body has to work to get to the sugars, it prevents the body from getting that instant sugar rush.

Straight precessed sugar or bread causes the pancreas to throw out massive amounts of insulin to get the sugars out of the blood and put it in the fat cells.

Fruits on the other hand, have the sugars embedded in the fibers. Changes the dynamics of what the body has to do.

The down side to my not eating bread is I'm losing weight. It doesn't hurt to have a little body fat.

Re: Diets

I don't know about diets, never tried one.

I was at a lunch table with a woman who was huge and eating a salad, talking about how being a vegetarian is so healthy. One of the guys said hippopotomuses are vegetarians, and she got really pissed.

Between gut flora and micro perforations of the gut, people really can't say what's best for a given person.

This is what works for me. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months last time I did it. Felt great.

Breakfast could be real sugar Pepsi and candy bars and I still lost weight. Lettuce wrapped burgers were good.

Problem is I've lost my will power for it. I got tired of trying to eat that way on the road. Corn tortilla sandwiches got pretty lame. Gluten free bread is expensive and not very good. It is getting better though.

We do cook gluten free at the house since my kid has mass will power in this regard. I just mess it up with bread or crackers.

Getting ready to get back on it. I keep hovering around 260 at 6'1". I can easily get back down to 230 if I just drop wheat.

It also makes my head clearer and my whole outlook brighter.

They say wheat, especially GMO wheat is as addictive as crack.

The more I read about this stuff the more I'm convinced that any one single diet for any one person isn't always right. Being as I went from regular "eat anything" to straight carnivore, my body should have really thrown me for a spin for up to a month.

It only was bad for a couple days and has been getting increasingly better everyday since Monday. I feel really good today. It sure isn't for everyone.

What drives me nuts is when someone has found out something that works for them, then it's the "end all be all and everyone should do it". Horse**** it is. A lot of people would hate this. I could never be a vegetarian. Even if I put all my will power into it I'd hate it. I also believe my body would reject it.

Digestive micro-domes are not well understood. And depending how the critters inside you affect you... Everyone's diet should be a little different.

Yeah, I weighed myself today and unfortunately I've lost 3 lbs since Saturday. I really don't want to get too skinny. I'm fine if I get down to 180 but I'll have to start lifting again if I drop below that. That's what I weighed 20 years ago

Re: Diets

You too much about that, go to 30 days on any diet, and then after 30 days track it by weighing yourself everyday and doing the average of 14 days

A big guy Can Shed 15 pounds of water weight in 30 days on a diet. I never count the first 10 lb is fat loss of any kind.

It's the one thing I like about this diet... No thought. Eat when hungry and has to come from something that flies, swims, or walks... And unsweetened tea along with coffee no cream or sugar.

If you have any organ problems I don't know that I'd try it though and you had the blood pressure thing right?

Exactly. If you drank a lot of iced tea or soda stop and drink water. If pop tarts were your snack eat an apple. Pizza 3 days a week? Eat one slice once a week. Bagels everyday? Switch to a banana and cereal.
