sometimes conventional medicine does not have all the answers.

thinking outside the box or going against conventional accepted practices usually gets negative reviews.

medicine is not a one size fits all....

at least outside of canada....

perhaps, if inflammation is the issue and he can reduce it with a high protein diet...so be it...

like my ortho surgeon told me about glucosamoine chondritin supplements...it doesn't matter if science thinks they work, it only matters if you think they work...

Re: Diets

Iíve been trying the low carb thing for 5 weeks now. Itís not too bad except I really like pasta, bread, potatoes, sugar, and beer!!!!

I watched a documentary on Netflix called The Magic Pill, it makes a lot of sense. I do think nutrition plays a bigger part in our health than people realize.

Re: Diets

A good way to lose weight is not to eat between meals and to skip a meal, that way your body will start burning the fat instead of the food one is constantly providing it with frequent eating.

There's lots of ways to lose weight. Basically burn more than what you put in. One guy ate only Twinkies for a month and lost weight.

I'm feeling pretty good today compared to yesterday. I did drink a coffee this morning instead of just watered down tea.

Very true Griz ! If that was not the case, the placebo effect would not exist. Attitude is huge. What we think about we tend to bring about. Think of the woman who says " if I even look at a piece of cheese cake I gain a pound". If one does not believe she is tipping the scale in that direction with that mindset, they are fooling themselves.

I couldn't give a **** less about the carbs, I really want lettuce, peppers, asparagus, green beans, peas, pinto beans, boiled peanuts, and onions right now.

Once youíre in ketosis, you can have small portions of vegetables/carbs and you still stay in ketosis.

Get the test strips. Itís the only way to know for sure.

Re: Diets

I don't know how you can only eat meat.
You need fiber to push all that s**t through you. Fiber scrapes your intestines out.

If I only ate meat I would be a miserable s.o.b.

There's no damn point, if you are losing weight you are in ketosis, if your not losing weight and you are only eating fats for energy rest assured you are in ketosis. Piss strips are not very accurate, if you wanna know use a blood tester.

I can eat dairy too. It's a bitch lemme tell you. I've only been doing it since Saturday. I figured six weeks will tell me if it helps my back.

What I've read is you don't actually need as much fiber as conventionally thought. After your digestive system adjust you pass less often. It's definitely not for everyone. One of the articles I was reading says it's now believed some people are predisposed to eating more meat through genetics while others are more predisposed to eating more vegetables. Apparently though we have grossly overestimated how much carbs we're supposed to be eating.

It's a different animal, I'll tell you that. My sweat feels heavy...
