Costco Mattresses

We have a high dollar Stearns and Foster that sucks! We hate it. Obviously price isn't a determining factor when it comes to a mattress. Both my wife and I stayed in a Hotel and our back pain went away. We came home and both of us were in pain again.

Anyone have any luck with a Costco mattress? Do they not last long?

We're not memory foam people. We both didn't like the way it felt. However we may be able to get used to it, but don't want to take the chance. The problem with mattresses is you really don't know how good it is until you've had a few days or even weeks on it.

Re: Costco Mattresses

They have a good return policy.
Foam stays warm which I don't like, but you can't feel the other person tossing and turning so that's nice.

Most stores offer a 30 comfort return. It's good insurance but we had about .1% exchange rate in reality.

Re: Costco Mattresses

Side note: From my mattress sales days. I've spent a lot of time at the Serta plants and, at the time, the mattresses for Costco and Sam's weren't really a better value than what we could offer at the mattress stores. They would use a lower quality spring or foams to achieve a very similar look at a lower cost. We had access to that kind of product too.

Now, mattress store pricing may vary quite a bit and Costco will stay aggressively low but during a sale, or at an "everyday low price" place, the prices will be competitive.

For the amount of dough you're willing to spend, I'd go to a local store. NOT SLEEPY'S!

That makes sense. Treat the purchase like you would an expensive tool....with someone you can deal with instead of someone in Thailand trying to answer your questions/concerns.

Don't skimp on a mattress. You are on that thing a lot. We have a mattress from a local company that makes them. Gardner mattress. Pretty good. My wife has been talking about a memory foam mattress though.

We need a new bed too. There is an Aaron shaped crater on my side.

We are thinking about an ikea mattress. Just not sure how well they hold up.

Years ago, the X and I shopped for the very best damned Stearns and Foster because of my busted up neck and back. A year later, we moved, and left the set AND antique sleigh bed.

25 years later, I still haven't found a good solution.

Re: Costco Mattresses

We went on vacation 2 years ago and spent 10 day on a memory foam mattress. The wife and I slept so well on it. The day we got back home we bought a new memory foam mattress and have been incredibly happy with it.

The mattress it replaced was custom mattress that had spring rates matched to our body weight. It was nice for about 6 months then sagged badly.

Hard to test drive a mattress at Sams or Costco. I'm surprised and maybe a little bit glad to hear your honest thoughts on the Stearns and Foster.

I discovered them the last time we was in Florida. I had never in my life felt anything better that was not x-rated...

So much so I laid there for nearly half an hour just feeling my back and hips realign themselves.

I liked the story about them and everything, I will have to reconsider when it comes time for a new mattress now.

Did you ask the Hotel what the mattress brand was? Or pull the sheet up and look yourself?

The Stearns and Foster was great until the two meteor sized depressions appeared in both sides. I practically need a ladder to climb up out of bed! Yes we rotated it.
