On his way home from work, nice sunny day for Ireland, travelling on a duel carriage way very light traffic, was travelling uphill, but took foot of gas as roads felt icy, car just plowed into back and pushed him into the guard rail spinning him around. The driver of the other car told the cop at the scene "the car just got away from him," turns out was his new car(bmw)
Dad was uninjured, slight pain in hip.
Thank f$$k

I'm happy he's OK. Keep an eye on those pains, if he didn't go to the hospital.

I'm glad that he and everyone else is ok. Treasure your parents while you can. They won't be here forever.

Glad he's OK. My parents have finally hit that age (early 70's) where I'm getting more and more concerned about them when they drive. They both drive just fine - I'm worried about them getting injured by a reckless driver. My mom was hit 3 weeks ago, with over $6K in damage to her car.

Yep, good to hear he's ok. My father is 90 and still drives. He's got all his marbles as well.

Re: Close Call For My Father Today.

When I was a kid, I loved cars and driving. Now I'm old and hate it.

Sunkist, I too have lived longer in the US than in the UK where I gre up. I know exactly how it feels. When things happen back home it suddenly feels a long way away.
