Calidecks Fell Off A Ladder.

Mike is laid up in the hospital for a while. Not known how long. I guess he broke an arm, his nose and his hip.

Fell off the roof putting up Christmas lights of all things.

He posted on Facebook so even though he is not O.K. he is not in imminent danger.

Andy.

That's a long fall. Could have been way worse. Prayers out to Mike.

Re: Calidecks Fell Off A Ladder.

Wrist and nose ain't so bad unless you end up with a severly deviated septum. It's the broken hip that's a SOB. When you can finally stand up again those first steps are pathetic and hurt like hell.

Last time I fell it was just a wrist and you couldn't get me on a ladder for good 5 years after that they scared me to death and I was in my late 30's. Jesus Mike you're too old for this chit

Re: Calidecks Fell Off A Ladder.

“WHETHER YOU JUST PLAN to wrap a few lights around the trees in your front yard or harbor a grand, Griswoldian vision of installing enough holiday sparkle to keep the neighbors awake at night, take heed of what emergency room doctors already all know too well: Installing holiday lights can be hazardous to your health.

About 200 people a day suffer decoration-related injuries this time of year,” says Patty Davis, a spokeswoman for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, a governmental agency that seeks to safeguard people from consumer-product related risks. In November and December of last year, an estimated 13,000 people were treated in emergency rooms around the country for injuries tied to holiday lights, Christmas trees, ornaments and other decorations, according to the CPSC.

the patients who suffered the worst falls – often older men – sustained head and spinal cord injuries, as well as internal bleeding, including from the liver, spleen and pelvis. “

You're on my prayer list.

Hang in there and once you get through this surgery stuff take it easy on the recovery side and don't try to rush it.

Re: Calidecks Fell Off A Ladder.

The reason I started climbing ladders at all was to keep my dad off the damned things. I can still remember him hanging Christmas lights while I was the helper on the ground. He's a clumsy Archie Bunker type, physically, no concept of balance, and he was 25' up trying to reach for a hook. Scared the living chit out of me.

The timing of this whole thing is suspect, and I have a bit of trouble believing Mike's story.

I figure he got into Mrs. Cali's homemade pies before the Thanksgiving crowd got there and she waylaid him.

Re: Calidecks Fell Off A Ladder.

Well be can be sure Mike's ladder climbing days are done for now.
It's happens so quickly things turning pear shaped (English term for turning to sh#t) the doc's can fix you up but what they can't do is speed it up.

Mike, you may have to rent a frame so you can hoist yourself out of bed, then alas a frame that helps to raise your butt off the toilet seat and keep in mind those pain pills work but they also act like a butt stopper.

When your are back in the saddle perhaps you can show Sean Spicer how it's done on Dancing with the Stars.

Get to feeling better you know we are sending prayers for you and your family now you are going to be home a lot, maybe just buy one of those lights that you stick in the front yard and point at the house.
