I have held far too many dogs at that moment but I don't think I could handle not having one. I can't remember a time I didn't have a dog and can't imagine a time without one.

Re: Buddy

I've got my hunting and cattle dogs and they are just that. They live for it. I had my best friend ever Tyson... He was a boxer who did everything with me for 13 yrs, he was around before the wife, he was around for the first kid and we had to put him down right before the second. That dog knew my mood, he knew just what I needed if I needed to smile, he really was the closest thing to be my son before I had my son. Then we had to put him down... God that hurt. Swore off dogs for a year.

We've had a couple dogs that we've tried to make like ole Ty-bo. They just liked to hunt and herd too much. Then, all of a sudden I watched Marley and me with the ole lady and she said, "you need another friend". I said no, I'm happy with her and the kids and just training the dogs to do their jobs.

Reluctantly, I went to a rescue witb her. We found a dog that was INSANE just like Tyson, but she would let me play with her paws and look at her teeth with no issue. So I said sure, we can have a "family" dog (knowing it could be no Tyson). Now, we have a black lab/weimraner mix that just loves to be with me. My wife said when I leave and she doesnt come with, she sits by the window waiting. She waits her turn for hugs and kisses behind the kids when I get home.

A dog with the person it loves most is exactly how we're supposed with who we love most. Man... our new dog is quickly becoming a Tyson, he can never be replaced, but its nice just to be loved like only a dog knows how to love. Here's to your Buddy and my Marley becoming a Tyson.

Re: Buddy

Anyone ever have a dog that just won't grow out of the puppy stage? This one just won't grow up and she's 5.
