Ah......yeah........I don't think I'd want to be the one going up against a lawyer with that one!

The DOT also disapproves. At least around here.

They're quite strict on securing your load.
I've been lucky though, when taking my coffee cup for a free ride on the bumper.

I once lost a pair of wooden saw-horses off the top, on a bridge, on the interstate, at rush-hour, the car behind me was a cop.

I wish I would have taken a picture of my 1997 F150 with 14 square of Owens Corning dimension shingles on the back. I was only going literally 3 blocks, but I was still worried it would snap my truck in half.

===========================================

Actually I call those "road kills" and stop and pick them up. I have a good stock in my van. I figure that someone did not know how to use them OR like me, I leave my ladder on the job site and forget the bungie's are on the roof. At about 40mph they become another road kill for someone else to pick up.

Re: Big Box Parking Lot-DIY Photo Of The Day

I was hauling a trailer of scrap metal secured w/ ratchet straps. I was smart enough to use cardboard or something to protect the straps from chafing against the metal....about 50 miles down the road (<5 miles from scrapper) on I95 I see some straps bouncing on the road instead of securing stuff....just got trailer off cl and no tags.

Lucky day.

If it was literally three blocks, why not make 2 trips?

I replace my ratchet straps at least once a year I have never broken one . I get the ones at home depot and have good luck with them. I have even used the straps to pull cars out of ditches. And not broken them

I couldn't get a pic but I saw an older(probably mid 80's) Dodge passenger van driving on the expressway into Chicago yesterday. He had the side hinged doors open with what looked like 2" foam boards sticking out the side. He was dring about 50 mph. I assume that the doors were bungeed together, but don't know for sure.

Also saw a truck with a magnetic sign on the door for ""Hydraulic and Pneumatic" repair on the magnet.
On the side it was written "Hidraulic and Neumatic repair"
