Anybody From Lake George?

With clean air and no nearby cities the night sky there was like right out of an astronomy textbook.

Is it still like that?

Near the finger lakes in NY?

If so, my Grandpa's wife still lives on Keuka Lake. Spend time there yearly, absolutely gorgeous.

Yup. We camp on an island there every year. I grew up a bit to the East.

The hike up Buck Mountain is a great way to spend a morning. Surprisingly intense!

I mostly just BBQ and drink in the mornings there. Some of the other folks hike. It sounds hard.

Re: Anybody From Lake George?

My buddy's family has a cottage on the other side of the Adirondacks, been in their family for almost 100 years and smack dab in the middle of a 2000 acre plot (and the owner will shoot you if you aren't with "that red headed kid"). It's gorgeous up there, I get to go up once a twice a summer and usually once a winter. Super cold in the winter, but going out snow-shoeing and having the only human tracks be your own is pretty crazy. And yeah, the sky is a kaleidoscope at night. Pretty peaceful taking the canoe up the river and just letting the river bring you back while you stare at the sky. And drink beer.

I live just North of there, its still the typical tourist trap so bring your wallet. But you can find good food, boat rentals, cruises on the lake, etc. Been some changes in Town recently. Gas Light village is gone and has been made a park, on the North end by the school they just tore down one of big restaurants but i am unsure what they putting back up.
