Any Rock Climbers?

I used to do this, not quite to this extent....

What these guys did is basically do the impossible.

Talk about determination & a set of juevos....

I climbed at a gym some... Got a good friend who's been into it for years and does some really cool climbs. It's intense for sure. Crazy body strength right there...

That is super cool.

Imagine 3000 vertical feet of skip troweled wall....

and then try & climb it using only hand & foot holds....

Re: Any Rock Climbers?

I competed in climbing when I was in high school, me and my father built an indoor climbing gym for me to train on in our barn, it takes years to prepare your body and mind for something like they did.

This is a great read. Lots of detail on the planning, etc. (It turns out Caldwell is missing his left index finger from a table saw accident.)

Re: Any Rock Climbers?

I used to climb but that was 5 shoulder surgeries ago.

Never was much for trad, I preferred sport climbing (you carry about 30 lbs less gear but the actual climb is often more difficult). I climbed up to 5.12c, which means on my best day, and after many tries, I might have been able to climb one or two of the easier pitches Caldwell and Jorgensen went up.

Tommy Caldwell has been raising the bar for climbers worldwide for many years.

I fell off a rock as a little kid, so I think I'm up to falling off of that rock.

I had the good sense not to get into free climbing. I also passed on a road legal race car (AWD rally). I would have had a lot of fun with either of these, until I didn't.

It's been about 27 years since I have been to Yosemite------ not definitely sure---- but I think you can just hike up the back side---- which would make climbing up the front side kind of pointless???

some people like to do things the hard way
