Re: Any Guitar Players?

I would love to play but I don't feel I have time for it. Keep up the practice and it will come. See if you can find someone to tutor you in it and maybe it will come a bit faster for you.

Re: Any Guitar Players?

Hey during commercial ( Men Who Built America) I just got through 'Killing Time' (Clint Black) without dropping the pick. Caught myself manipulating it when I felt it moving between my thumb and forefinger between strokes.

Odd, I don't remember having this problem a month or two ago. I remember missing one weekend, and it sure seemed to be a setback.

Just got a new toy today.

LTD MH400NT

it's an older model but it feels and sounds great, at least to me anyway but I'm an old school thrash guy.

Banjo and guitar. I pretty much suck at guitar but it's fun.

I can play the Ukulele but I still suck. Ozzy on the Ukulele is hilarious. My daughter found youtube videos of ukulele folks jammin to Ozzy so I tried Crazy Train. I laugh so hard I can't get through it. Lol

Re: Any Guitar Players?

Thanks for the link on the picks. I just recently lost one with the sand-like texture on it. I was sort of getting used to it, but I feel the texture was coming off. It was beginning to be hard to hold.

Not wanting to keep a pick in the strings past the nut, I placed a small piece of velcro tape at the base of the neck at the body. I then put a piece on a pick. I now just stick the pick to the guitar when I am through with it, if I am using that pick.

The velcro tape on the pick makes it a little easier to hold onto. I am thinking about adding a piece of the tape on the other side also, but I think I may wait til I get a lighter gauge pick.

Everly Music Star Picks | Guitar Picks at zZoundswww.zzounds.com/item--EMCSTAR

You might like these too Boman, I usually use the Claytons but occasionally I pick up a few of these. I will get a few bucks worth of different kinds and thicknesses every time I go to the music store just to spread around in the truck, ash trays, guitar case, junk drawers, etc. I'm never too far away from a pick. Most of the time I have one in my wallet.

Funny thing is I like to finger pick as much as strum with a pick. Its a sickness I guess..

Re: Any Guitar Players?

My thumb seems to have better sense of rythm than I do with a pick.

May be because the mistakes are more muted.

Re: Any Guitar Players?

Little while back my eleven year old granddaughter told me, " I don't know, Papa, country music may not be good for you."

I was a little busy doing something and replied, " Yeah, you may be right."

A little later after I was done do whatever, I was thinking about what she said, and asked her " Hannah, what do you mean 'country may not be good for' me?".

She told me, " It makes you kinda whiney.".
I replied, " Well, some country is kind of whiney."
I was then told, " Yeah Papa, but some people know how to whine."

LOL! Out of the mouths of babes. Gotta love 'em!

Re: Any Guitar Players?

I took lessons for six months, but aside from that, I am self taught. With the abundance of resources out there, one can learn from just sitting down and following instruction.

Re: Any Guitar Players?

About 43 ...short years ago, I think I took 3 lessons.

Sometimes it seems I am at a standstill, but part of the reason I attempt this again is in hopes of keeping the fingers on my left hand flexible as I use them to chord and work the fret board.

My middle finger tends to want to lock at the middle joint if not used in a little while.
