Esp when pulling stills from video or sitting up close to a computer screen. Zooming in on video is also a no go with 1080p.

My security cams on my house are 1080p and its almost impossible to make out any detail with zooming in at even 2x let alone 4x or 6x
That's funny because the older models are 1080p or even 720p. They look great

I think 1080p looks great too. Problem comes when playing with the picture to do anything. A 1080p image is only about 2M pixels. Remember what it's like to edit or zoom in on anything with 2M pixels.

I will show you what a 1080p video looks like as a comparison when zoomed. You will see what i mean.

Re: Aerial Camera Drones

Here you go. Here's our front security cam zoomed in to only 4x you can't make out the 4x4 sticker at all on side of truck. On a 4k image that would be much clearer.

I'm mostly going to be using it for still shots. How's it for that? Want to get full photos of decks for my website.

Re: Aerial Camera Drones

I have not looked at its stills specs. My sjcam is 2mp video and 12mp stills so they will prob be around that on their 1080p can model I would have thought.

4k camera:
http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-3...ssional-camera

Advanced camera (1080p)
http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-3/advanced-camera

12 megapixel still shots. I'm really planning on getting the advanced. I've been working on my wife. We're going through the stages.

First stage was her argument against it:

her - "Why do you want videos of your decks? You don't sell videos, you sell decks"

She gets it, she just likes to argue..

I'm very particular about all purchases. It's in my DNA.

Re: Aerial Camera Drones

the phantom 3 is a real sweet rig for sure
the built in lightbridge for video downlink and the sonar/optical flow sensor essentially make the inspire obsolete (at least from major cost difference margine)
as far as the camera options, both are phenominal
looking to pick up a vision+ cam/gim real soon to replace my current one

The top is the phantom 3 pro. 1358.00 delivered. Currently grounded...The original battery decided to put itself into hibernation mode and won't charge. Waiting 3+ weeks for warranty replacement.

The second is a yuneec (pronounced unique) typhoon 500+

The phantom shoots 4k which is amazing compared to 1080. The only drawback is the video file size.

This is 1080 from the Typhoon.

Re: Aerial Camera Drones

For us in Canada, I just noticed in the Staples flier that they are selling the Phantom 3's. There are other stores around that sell them, closer to Toronto, but thought it was interesting that a office supply store like Staples would carry these. I guess they see the potential in them.

I don't see how. Being able to move continuously around an object to view it is just plain awesome.

Just reviewed a property with my neighbor. The surveyor he used droned the entire acreage, and it would take days to walk that terrain, and even longer to get a handle on the lay of the land.

You don't want the standard, you want the intelligent flight mode, and you really will want the better camera for pictures, and trust me if you do a video fly by of a big deck you'll be hooked and wished you had the 4k camera. So it looks like you're spending $1249.

Fify.

You'll need extra batteries, props, prop guards, a case...........

Okay but who realistically in the general public has a 4k TV or computer monitor to watch these 4k resolution videos?

And how long until enough people DO have them to make it worthwhile?
