50 Years Ago Tonight....

The Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. I was 9 and wanted to be a drummer so I was glued to the TV set.

I remember what my Dad said after they were done....

"I remember those boys when they couldn't carry a tune in a basket".

Anyone else catch them that night?

Re: 50 Years Ago Tonight....

Love history like this. I was not even a thought in my mother or fathers brain yet but I grew up listening to all the oldies. Beatles where one of my mother's favorite.

This February 3rd would have been 55 years when "The Music Died". Sad really. I really dig Buddy Holly.

Almost 20 years before my time but I also grew up listening to the beetles. I'm watching the special right now.

Re: 50 Years Ago Tonight....

I remember standing in line at the theater rooting for Elvis while some others were rooting for the Beatles.

You seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show reminds me of a lady at work many years ago telling about seeing Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show and about her crying when her mother said something his hair or something.

Revolver has always been my favorite Abby road too ...Just think of the great tunes we missed out on since 1980. RIP John!

Oh, jeezus, I'm older than Griz! I was 13 and a Beach Boys fan, but I remember watching. I remember the Buddy Holly crash, too. It was 50 miles from my home
