SW Prewallcovering Primer To Be Discontinued

I was told today at Sherwin Williams that the Prewallcovering primer is to be discontinued, they say the multipurpose latex primer will replace it.
I just don't buy it, I can not see that the multipurpose latex primer will adequately size the wall surface suitable for wallpaper.

What other types of primer / sizing are others using for a one step / coat preparation for wallpaper?
Thanks Martin.

They tried to tell me that MPP is the same as DTM Bonding Primer also. Must be the cure all.

Try Roman 909.

I use Gardz almost exclusively for a pre-wallcovering primer.

Re: SW Prewallcovering Primer To Be Discontinued

Thanks guys. I will have to drive 45 miles to my next closest supplier but I usually get up that way often enough it shouldn't be a problem.
Most likely SW can get the Roman 909 for me but I not sure that I want them to.
Martin.

Roman's 909 sucks. I've used it a few times recently and found no benefits of using it whatsoever.

Re: SW Prewallcovering Primer To Be Discontinued

Have been using Gardz for years with great results....also great for damaged drywall.....only problem I see is the odor.....but not have found a product that performs as well and while the odor doesn't bother us as we use masks....it is not good to use on certain jobs....case in point.we were doing a rewallpaper in a JC Penny photography studio during the day and the smell was bothering the customers on the main sales floor...
