Installing Lights Behind Wallpaper

There are several wallpaper patterns of city and natural landscapes that I think would look great if standard or color lights were installed behind the paper.

Just wandering if anyone has installed this system before and if so, what unexpected problems occurred. I would plan for access panels to change dead bulbs and use a clear backing that would not be prone to a dirty yellow residue after a year of use. Others thoughts would be appreciated.

Why not glue the wallpaper to plexiglass and then edge light the plexiglass with LEDs. That way you don't need to change bulbs.

That would be great for some patterns. After thinking about it some more the goal would be to light up certain areas in the wallpaper. Use an orange colored light behind a sun and put construction paper on the back so the light only shines through the sun on the wallpaper pattern. Same approach could be made for night skylines, nature scenes, etc.
