Re: When Is The Last Time You Took Some Time Off?

I'm gonna hit 58 this year time to take it easy, slowly making plans for retirement and enjoying the remaining time left while I got the wind in me, so I concentrate or make more of leisure time than creating a workload for myself.

One way of doing that is I try to take the time off every chance I get. Love traveling to Europe when the wife can get away for 2 weeks minimum, or when we can get good deals on tickets offseason as we flew down to France, tickets were 400 round trip so we went down there for 4 days with a few friends or ours... Few times a year we go away to Florida to spend time with family and friends, going there for 10 days on July 4th weekend, etc.

The reason I started taking all these things into consideration, is because I had quite a few family members not excluding close friends who worked until the last day, the job was the only priority, and by the time they retired they had no wind left in them to enjoy or do anything and most left the reservation fairly quick.

Re: When Is The Last Time You Took Some Time Off?

Just took off for a bbq competition a month ago.

Now that we have the people in place i take off a lot. Looking at the schedule, leaving friday for spring break, turkey hunting end of march, axis deer hunt in April, bbq competion in early may, beach vacation in may, hiking trip in colorado in june, 2 camping trips in the summer, a dove hunt in south texas in september and proabably a mule deer hunt in the fall. During the fall i hunt deer quite a bit at the lease and take off a lot around the holidays.

Im also taking a week off to frame our 1st duplex.

If possible id like to either go quail or pheasant hunting this year also

I cover the supers and project manager (brother) when they take off.

I don't like to take time off. It's pretty much all forced, like having breakdowns this week or my gr8 wants to go somewhere.

August 2017. Went to Wyoming to the annual Wind Festival (runs from Jan 1- Dec 31 every year) as well as the total solar eclipse. Wasn't gonna miss that for nuttin'.

Rarely schedule time off. I have enough 'slow' time here and there to take it easy.

When I was in the field more I was the same way. I'm in the office 80 to 90% of the time now, that definitely causes me take off more. LOL

Re: When Is The Last Time You Took Some Time Off?

Leaving Saturday for 5 days in Colorado for skiing. It's spring break for my wife and kids.
Before that it was last July for my mandatory 1 week vacation that my wife highly encourages. I always enjoy my time away, it's all the prep work leading up to it that is tough.

Kinda do now but I might be cheating if I'm being honest. I'm still looking at my phone browsing through the forum and reading this guide and similar others instead of just enjoying being away with my family after a long while... eh. It's just hard to get it out of you. I promise to leave my phone later.

Just now returning to work, took two weeks off and traveled to Europe. We caught up with our son who is stationed in Spain. Had not seen him for over two years. My crew kept things running.

Left to see my grandson today at noon. Does that count as time off?

August 8th, brothers birthday beer bash. Fall always gets super busy, procrastinators want their roof done before the snow flies.

Better to trap them. You can get the whole heard at once.
