Windows 10 Crash

Heads up for everyone.

I updated to windows 10 from 7 couple months back, everything was fine until today.

My computer tried to update and then something went haywire. I cannot get into windows 10 as it is stuck in Automatic Repair "Loop"

It shows blue screen and tries to fix itself to no avail and will not let me recover or restart to safe mode. There is a good possibility all my data is lost, small chance it may be recovered but back up everything NOW so you don't lose anything.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...c+repair+stuck

I took mine to a compute repair guy to try to recover data, Quickbooks, documents and photos. Won't know till a couple days whether or not it is a total loss.

Microsoft was less than helpful and basically said tough luck, sorry.

Re: Windows 10 Crash

Chances are the data is fine just because windows crashes doesn't mean data is lost.

I'm sure somewhere in Microsoft EULA it says something about win 10 still being in testing.

If the repair guy says data is lost find yourself an actual data recovery guy. Really you could probably get it all back with a bootable Linux CD and an external HDD

Re: Windows 10 Crash

Looks like this isn't a new issue with Win10.

I would also add that not all PC's are equal.

I'll be reserving my copy of Windows 11 when they figure out the bugs in 10.

Did you have to do a reinstall of all your programs?

Nope. It upgraded the system around my old system.

Re: Windows 10 Crash

I have never liked the in place upgrades , unless it was just upgrading fr win 7 HP to pro.

I much prefer to back up what I want and wipe the disk do a clean install, but that's just a personal preference I have

All my stuff is on back up already. I figured it couldn't hurt to try. 6 months later, not a single issue.

I agree but I got lazy on this one (7-10) on my desktop, 3 months later seems the HD died... maybe. I need to pull it and put it in an external case. Pretty much everything of value is backed up so I'm not too worried.

I installed 10 on my wife's pc and now it won't come out of hibernate without a reboot. Tried jacking with the power settings to no avail.

I updated from 7 to 10 and ain't had one issue. I have found something I don't like though. When copying multiple files if they are the same file name it won't ask me anymore if I want to keep the originals and just rename the new ones with a (1) on the end. Stupidly annoying

That happened with mine going from 8 to 10 . Also only way it would power down was with the button. Sent it in for some repairs and when got it back things worked right then.

Re: Windows 10 Crash

My computer guy saved all my data and rolled me back to windows 7. I bought an external hard drive and will be backing up every couple weeks or so.

He told me I had the luck of the irishman!!!

That was stressful......

Recently rolled out carbonate backup solution for one of my customers. On the fly cloud backup and you pay for the amount of storage not per user.

They used to try and do the oh Bob in accounting will remember to back up to his external. Ya right, just like Bob will remember to update and run his antivirus.

Very seldom do I see a drive crash where data can't be recovered at all.
