Refurbished Phones

i have a 4 year old samsung s4 that i love, but it's starting to have some issues. i'm with verizon.

did a search, and a new s9 is anywhere from 750-900 bucks....not going to pay that.

i can buy a verizon certified refurbished samsung s7 for under $200 through walmart. any of you ever go that route?

Re: Refurbished Phones

I had a refurbed phone and had issues with it, it was “glitchy” and would hesitate a lot

Most people I know have no issues with refurbed phones but I prefer new phones....I always get the oldest model so it’s never that expensive

My phone is the most important tool I have. I find it only being 700-900 an absolute bargain. . Think it's like $30 a month.

Re: Refurbished Phones

I bought a refurbished phone a while back, it didn’t work properly. I think it would randomly crash for no reason. I went through a bunch of software reloads and whatever before the seller agreed to refund my money. I’d only buy new.

Re: Refurbished Phones

After working in the electronics industry I will never buy refurbished anything, failure rate is way too high.

Jump off you wallet ya cheap skate, you use your phone every damn day and you wanna cheap out? Next to your boots and your bed it's probably the most important thing you carry.

I think it depends a lot on how hard you physically are on phones... I kill mine so quickly (cracked screens, drowned, etc), that I don't care to buy them new. It's like buying a brand new F150 to use as the shop truck in a scrap metal yard, lol.

Re: Refurbished Phones

I think BB has them for 300 dollars off. If you keep one for this many years, it is cheap per year. Just pay the monthly fee and get a good phone. Then put it in a beetle case and it will survive most things.

S4? Jeez, that's ancient in phone years. It was a good phone, but time marches on.

Re: Refurbished Phones

I have the S7 Edge (someone gave me a used one for free), and it's a nice phone. I think the S7 is very similar and if it's Refurbished it's probably in decent shape... Does it come with a warranty at all?

In that case he's close enough to death than an extra couple hundread on a phone ain't gonna hurt.

Re: Refurbished Phones

You should be able to get a new phone at a decent deal with a 2yr service contract. You can also have payments put on your monthly bill but I think that's at full price. I have an S8 plus I normally get a new phone at the end my contract because I start to have issues but my S8 is doing fine.

I never buy anything refurbished.

Re: Refurbished Phones

Thanks for responses, but I've been out of contract for at least 5 years, and refuse to go into one.

Sheet, my 3 gig plan with them with phone is only $43 a month including taxes and fees.

Re: Refurbished Phones

I think refurb is fine, but make sure you're getting a new battery.

My S5 died, so I bought a new J7 from Costco for about $200.

tracfone - 20 bucks every 90 days.

I buy the 20 dollar card - they double the minutes.

Lately, have to buy extra internet time - use the sh!t out of the web.

That and texting. All these young guys - they mostly text. Even the home buyers prefer texting.

It works just fine.

There are some things to know:

Around here, Verizon has the best cell tower locations/best overage.

The iPhone 5c I use - I got it thru AT&T. Once I got it unlocked, I went to tracfone.

Here's the downside: Because it was thru AT&T, its locked still to their towers. And they have the WORST tower locations.

Otherwise, a phone bought thru tracfone, or one that was originally on a Verizon system - unbeatable.

Hands down, tracfone - and especially their support - is the best in the business.
