Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

I have been using quickbooks since 2009 and every year I fall behind recording daily expenses and am left to print out bank statements and cram it in at the end of the year. I bought a tablet a few years ago because of the quickbooks app and sold it soon after because the app did not do expenses. I recently saw an app that said it would do what I want from my phone and download it to quickbooks. Anyone use something like this?

I have my bank accounts directly linked to my quickbooks.

I record everything in Excel on my phone. Not sure if that could be transferable.

Re: Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

I know I'm no help. I have job names on all receipts. once a week or so I sit down and put the with the job they go to folder. And keep a running tab list in said folder.

I've been running QuickBooks for about 10yrs now. While I'm laid up with upcoming surgery I hope to study and brush up on all QuickBook technology.

I'm an old dog that can't learn all new tricks.......But I'm trying.

I heard about that option to "swipe left" for work expenses via your phone into quick books too. I have a stack of paper work that needs to get into quick books so I am curious as well.

I just noticed on my online banking that there is an "export to quickbooks" button, will have to see how that works.

You typically have to pay the bank for that service. But it saves tons of time entering things in.

There's a free way to get it from Chase

How so? I've been with Wachovia, Wells Fargo, and BB&T and they all charged.

I've been considering a chase account as I'm tired of BB&T trying to hold every check I deposit. If QB integration is no charge, I may be on board.

Didn't actually do anything with it but I tried it and it allowed me to download a file.

Awesome. You'll still need to code all of your entries but it makes the process as painless as possible.

Re: Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

I am new to quickbooks and am approaching my first quarter end while using it. I still need to enter all my non-job specific business expense receipts. Job costs I enter when I finish each job, each of which takes about a week.

I keep all job receipts in my wallet pretty much until the job is done, then I place them in the appropriate job folder based on what I bought (is pretty obvious).

Re: Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

You can typically download a file from your bank online to import into Quickbooks. However, in my opinion it is easier to access your business account directly through Quickbooks.

See this link to set it up. It really is straightforward.

This is for the desktop version of Quickbooks.

Re: Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

If you get quick books online you can link your bank accounts and credit card accounts. You hit an "update button and all purchases load. It gets smarter the more you use and and has the ability to acknowledge frequent vendors. You can also do all of your invoicing through it so it keeps a real time account balance which is helpful if some
Of your subs like to sit on checks so you don't forget about them and think you have more dough in the account than you really do.

That is exactly how mine works too with the cd program version I bought. The more you use the vendors it automatically matches the transaction.

Re: Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

I've tried over the yrs to record transactions on the spot, but always end up going back to paper and folders and record when I get time.

And I don't enter in the receipts in at all. I rarely underestimate materials and it is a moot point ''to me'' to bother with that. However my wife enters every credit card transaction in when the statement comes.

I will be housebound recovering for at least 12 weeks and plan on studying up on my quickbooks skills.

Also..... Being a ''one man band'', my system may be a little tailored to my ways.

Re: Recording Daily Expenses In Quickbooks

I usually try to snap a pic with my phone and load the expense into quickbooks. I have found this to work well, may mean a few extra minutes before I leave the parking lot but I like having the photo of the receipt attached to quickbooks.
