Re: My Website Is Gone! Does Anyone Know What Happened With WebFirst Creations?

My website is back up and running and in my control. Its now hosted by GoDaddy.

I had another website company. Recover my files and put it back together for me at a really reasonable cost.

I wanna thank all of you who helped along the way. If there are any other Webfirst clients out there who are in the same situation you can PM me and I can point you in the direction I went.

There are also I am sure quite a few ladies and gents on this site that could help you as well.

I am just glad everything is back to normal and in my control for a change. On a sidenote I am now paying a lot less for hosting so I guess there were some positives to come out of all this.

I have been trying every avenue I can drum up to contact WebFirst, but it seems they have disappeared.

If anyone else has any helpful advice I am all ears.
worst case scenario i believe you can check the registration n at go daddy
if they can' t help you you can put in a back order on the domain name and when they work out the details and when and if they discharge the acct with webs you will be first in line to buy it
This happened to me when a friend made me a site then decided to give up all his sites
I chose not to do the back order but its an option for you to look at
Good luck
regards
edit never mind
Im glad it worked out i did not read through to the end before offering my 2.5 cents

Happy to hear it worked out for you.

I see there is still a link to WebFirst in your footer. It does not open in a new window so takes people away from your site and endorses them (looks like they are back online). You should get your new guy to swap it out for his and have it open in a new window.

That would be a fine idea, but considering I emailed months ago to make some minor changes to my site and I still haven't heard back from that one I doubt a bill will do any good.

It's habit...or more curiosity I guess. Most every site I visit if it is interesting in look or function I always look for credits to see who did it, what they charge and then the source code to see how they did it...if it is actually what they charge for.

In this case I was curious who did such a good job of recovering his site and getting it back up so fast, if it was one of our own from Contractor Talk.

Re: My Website Is Gone! Does Anyone Know What Happened With WebFirst Creations?

Google webfirst creations.

I wonder how many people looking for reviews and recommendations for contractor or construction websites will find all three pages of this thread all about webfirst creations services at the top of the first page of Google.

Maybe they will be looking for web hosting services for Contractors when they find this thread and read all about how reliable Webfirst Creations is.

Contractor talk has some serious SEO power if you want something found at the top of search engines.

The tags that you can ad to the bottom of each page sure do help with search engine optimization as well.

Re: My Website Is Gone! Does Anyone Know What Happened With WebFirst Creations?

Wow, you guys gave me a lot to read! I didn't get the chance to drop by CT last week and missed all this in the process. I'm glad everything worked out for you brett, but that was a lot of hassle in the meantime.

I didn't know anything about WebFirst Creations, but I had heard of them and knew they had a lot of contractor clients because the name comes up enough that I recognized it.

Hopefully this thread will spare many others from having this happen.

I didn't know WFC was operating this way, but I've often warned against the type of deal they were selling and will do that again in hopes that another vulnerable site owner won't have to face this kind of nightmare. I would recommend against any type of all in one solution, especially when design and hosting are bundled together.

It is possible that you may never have a problem, and it is certainly convenient to have someone taking care of hosting for you, but also presents a significant risk. It's a good thing brett owned the domain name because I've seen cases where one company controlled that too, and he would definitely have had a total loss without that saving grace.

There was a time when I considered becoming an affiliate with a hosting company, but I'm glad I didn't. First of all, I saw many good hosting companies go bad when the prices dropped and competition became cutthroat. I would not have wanted my clients to have problems with something where I had no control of the quality. I strongly advocate keeping yourself agile so your entire site can be moved to a new hosting company if necessary.

Because the domain, hosting, and all the other "web stuff" can be a nuisance for a business owner that just wants an effective web site, I help them choose and register a domain if they need the help, and provide any help needed to set up hosting, but it is important that they do this in their own name. Whatever service provider you choose for your web site, it's in your best interest to learn from the lesson of this thread.

Re: My Website Is Gone! Does Anyone Know What Happened With WebFirst Creations?

I guess I'll join the list as well. Sites are down, e-mails not working and a little upset. I paid for 10 years on my primary domain but it's I think in Mike's name still (I think). I'll give it a few days before using my other domain name, moving content and starting from nothing with links.

Wondering why the lack of response in this thread from all the others that use/used them?
