Estimating Software For Drywall

Hello guys,

we are a drywall installation company and are looking for affordable and not too complex software to automate the process of doing estimates. Something that wouldn't take too much to learn.

To date we have been doing them by hand but would like to switch to something more efficient.

What are you using? What would you recommend?

Thank you,

Look into Onscreen takeoff by OnCenter. About the best there is.

I'm a big proponent of take off software and well thought out Excel worksheet.

Never heard of that brand. I use OnScreen, but it can be pretty expensive for a smaller firm.

I've heard great things about Planswift as a lower cost alternative.

Planswift will do what you need, there is a bit of a learning curve but there are plenty of videos on youtube

Re: Estimating Software For Drywall

We too use well thought out Excels spreadsheets and OST.
We have 5 copies I think we paid about $1200 each. Not cheap but I can do times the bids as I did with a scale tape and paper plans. Makes it easier to send a marked up color coded to the GC showing different finishes in different locations too.

There are quite a few estimating software programs out there. Luckily, that's a good thing for you...choose the one that best suits your needs.

For example, do you want a cloud based solution or a stand-alone program? A lot of companies are moving to the cloud these days because the benefits are hard to ignore.

I can think of a few of the benefits off the top of my head...being able to pretty much work anywhere from your mobile device. Another one...your data is backed up to the secure cloud so you don't have to worry about your computer crashing and losing all of your information. A third one I can think of is automatic software updates. With a cloud hosted solution, software updates, enhancements, upgrades are rolled out automatically. With a stand-alone program you would more than likely have to purchase the newer version of the software again.

Just my two cents!

Cheers!
