Estimating Program For Small GC Company/ Xactremodel

We are a smaller GC Company and I am looking into an efficient estimating program that can help us on cost as well as remembering to add in all aspects of the job. i.e. clean up at end, dump/hauling etc

I used to work for an insurance restoration company so I am very familiar with xactemate but heard that have now have xactremodel. Xactemate is very over priced for the smaller remodel/renovation company, so how accurate is xactremodel. Is it worth it?

We have the jobs coming in, and I believe our cost on labor/materials is accurate, but I think our issue is that we are either not adding in enough of a percentage for overhead/profit and/or we are missing items that are costing us on the job. (i.e. clean up at end of job, my husbands time going to job, gas, etc)

Any ideas on where to start, or how to best approach our issue?

Do we just take our numbers and add an extra 5-10% before submitting our proposal to make sure we are covered or do we do the whole deal and get the estimating program that helps us add on what we need to at the end?

Thanks very much for any and all feedback!

The two products share the same pricing list & structure - the only difference is they removed many of the dryout / smoke cleaning pieces. They have a slightly different OH&P setup from what I recall - you can choose markup or margin

As for pricing - there are numerous threads on here - a few can be found this piece I did http://thehtrc.com/2011/blog-off-det...-price-charges

Xactimate is way overpriced? Are you guys in this to make money? You should read a book by Walt Stoppleworth.
