Re: Internet Based Phone Services

So to switch from landline to Voip, will I need to be come an expert in this stuff or is it relatively easy. My concern is to start this and get most of the way through, hit a snag and now have no phones at all.

It took an office member more than a whole day to get the phones right when we relocated, and that was keeping the same carrier. I assume they will be less willing to help when you are cancelling them.

It's "supposed' to be easy, as long as they (Verizon or whomever) fills the order correctly. They change the ports at your local COLO, those phone buildings with no windows.

Re: Internet Based Phone Services

Getting on VoIP is easy shouldn't take more then 10 minutes getting your telco to fulfill a switch order well I have never dealt with american telcos but never had any issues in Canada.

Are you planning to buy an IP phone or keep the analog phones and use them with VoIP? The second option requires a little more work, and VoIP phones can be had for less then 100$.

With a VoIP phone a VoIP account and the correct information getting going should take less then 30 minutes.

I like easy more than I like $100, so VoIP Phone it is. Thanks!

Re: Internet Based Phone Services

With a VoIP phone and a service like VoIP.ms or any similar service you can be up and running in minutes.

The longest part would just be waiting for the number to transfer.
