Re: Georgia Mold Remediation

You might want to check what your Liability Ins. carrier has to say if you go on to do mold remediation.

I will. But Insurance companies are weird about asking questions. I'd rather have all my questions answered before I talk to them. I'm sure I could allways talk to the sec of state. But then again they are also funny about questions......

Re: Georgia Mold Remediation

Real mold remediation certification is very similar to asbestos and lead abatement.

If you research those I believe you'll find the answer

Absolutely correct...

but you better check with your liability carrier before you proceed.

Why can't you just ask them?

I'm looking on how to get certified/ liscensed in my state. I have googled it and didn't find much useful info. Other than advertisements looking for money (which I don't trust). Thought I would ask here for an unbiased honest opinion. As far as why don't I ask my insurer. I don't want my rates to go sky high or get cancelled for something I may or may not do or get certified/ liscensed in.

Why would your insurance fool with you if you asked them for projected rates if you did mold stuff?

Maybe I'm just paraniod. I would rather know what the qualifications/ training is and if I qualify before I involve the insurance company. Just how I feel about it.

Most pollution liability policies require an iicrc (now called The Clean Trust which I hate the name) or an Iaqa designation.

What is an iicrc and an Iaqa designation? How do I go about obtaining those?

Re: Georgia Mold Remediation

IICRC requires (www.iicrc.com) pre-requisite courses of Water Remediation (WRT) and I think the Applied Structural Drying (ASD) courses to be taken and successfully passed--takes a week course. Then your eligible to take the week AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation) course and test. There has been talk of having to have apprenticeship with a mold company before licensure but I don't know if that has passed.

IAQA I think is pretty similar. Haven't looked at their licensure for a few years. IAQA stands for Indoor Air Quality Assoc

Does anyone know if Georgia requires mold certification to assess and remediate mold issues?

Interesting. No one wants to answer your questions. Maybe you can ask people who do mold remediation in Georgia.

Re: Georgia Mold Remediation

Only 5 states are mold regulated at this time and Georgia is not one of them. You can contact MICRO which is one of the best home study certification organizations. For more information regarding mold, how to avoid it, remove it, and more you should check out the following web sites:
