Does Commerical Auto Replace Personal Auto?

Hey guys, I am looking over some insurance quotes I got and had a question about commercial auto coverage.

It's Sunday, so none of the agents are available to talk to and I'm curious.

If I get the commercial auto insurance bundled with my general liability does that mean I can cancel the personal insurance I carry on my truck? There is no way I can afford to carry both, but I would hate to get in an accident on a grocery run and not have it covered.

yes if you have the coverage for business it does replace your personal. there are alot of caveats though - just be careful.

In my case yes. I'm sure restrictions apply, so confirm with your agent.

I don't know about your state but in NJ commercial auto policy does not include PIP coverage. That is covered by your personal auto insurance. I get my PIP coverage by being on my wifes auto policy.

Here in TX you can only hold one policy per vehicle. Meaning if I carry CAI I lose my personal AI and pay a lot more for the coverage.

Here in Montana my commercial insurance is a lot cheaper then my personal. My truck that I drive every day cost like 28 a month and my car is like 42 a month. Two different company.

It really depends on your policy. In most states, you can buy commercial auto policies that will include personal use. Most likely you would be covered. But you shouldn't just assume that it's covered.
