That's fine with me. I use only a cell phone. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer the call.

I don't advertise either so chances are if you have my number, you got it from a referral.

If you can't take 30 seconds to leave a message...oh well.

That's probably because there's caller-Id and texting... if the person really wanted you, and got your voicemail, they'd probably text you next, and if you wanted to actually speak to them, text or call back...

One advantage for tele-calls is, if you're not interested in their service, a text will probably yield them the same result as if they called...

What is a good answering service to use? I'm so sick of all the spam calls I figure an answering service might screen them out.

I get a kick from that also.
You know there are 3-4 people in the entire building. Don't give me this nonsense about...sales. service, etc,etc.
My vet does this. 8 different options and still only one person answering the phone.

I just get my sales persons cell and text to call when available. I'm not their helper, nor did I call to follow instructions. I called to buy something.

It is funny to new subs sometimes when I say to call my mom or my mom or sister in law had dropped a check for them ect.. I have friends who say "Office manager" instead of wife or sister or mom e ct. . Lol. It's like we know your office manager bro. Lol

I know i lose a lot of calls due to hang ups on my machine. Too many BS calls and telemarketers when I have call forwarding to my cell.

Basically all calls to my home landline go to voicemail which i check once a day.
If someone doesn't leave me a voicemail and they moved on then that is fine with me. Like Robie, all my work is through referral, any new customer is going to have to wait for me anyway so if they cant leave a voicemail then they would not have been a good fit anyway.

If you number doesn't come up as one of my contacts I dont answer. Too many robo calls.

Most folks will leave a message, and I try and return all calls within an hour or 2 unless I am working where I don't have service.

I'm also 90% WOM. For many years, I had no problem with taking calls wherever, whenever, as long as I wasn't in the middle of balancing on a ladder juggling five tools.

But over the last few months, robocalls have swollen to the point that if I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. Far as I can tell, it hasn't affected my job load at all. Real customers leave a message.

Sure, on occasion they don't do so on the first or second call--but eventually they do. When I return the call, they don't gripe about it. If perchance we get into talking about it, they totally get why I've instituted the protocol.

In 30 years I've never answered my cell or landline unless it was a contact. If you don't want to leave a message tough sh*t and I'm happy that 85 percent aren't in my contacts.
