What Is The Best Way To Repair This Crack On This Roof.

I want to repair a crack on the boxed area of this roof. I am looking for the best approach to repairing this leak area.
The leak was repaired 5 years ago but it came back in the same area a few months ago. I dont think any reinforcement fabric was applied on the last repair.

The water is entering from the crack where the asphalt meets the shingles. I have pictures attached.

start with 5 gallons of diesel and a road flare...

have a roofer come take that apart, flash it correctly and put some tpo over it.

I'd say some diesel and a road flare would greatly improve the looks of that place.

I would be more than happy to meet you, in person, right in front of you, to discuss the issues with your job.

However, my out of state consult fee is $2500.00 + expenses.

For that you will get 4 hours on site with me and a detailed report which may provide more than one option to correct the situation.

But hey relax, I will practice speaking REEEEAL SLOOOOW and bring a chalk board to draw some very simplistic sketches to help you comprehend the issues.

Just in case I have used too many big words, I know a Special Needs Teacher that can provide insight to me so I can communicate effectively with you.

I am not certain why you have referenced your cat, "****pussy", but perhaps it is your desire to experience a woman instead of the male companionship you enjoy.

By the way I am not your bro.....

Kind of wondering if not a DIY with a job title of mechanic, unless that is the new GC title. Another 5 gal bucket of roof tar will fix that right up dandy.

OP, I think you have taken enough razzing, so Iíll help you out,

what Randy said above is partly right, what he left out is you get a year of protection per gallon of tar, so most likely five gallons was used last time since you got 5 years, if you embed some fiber tape in the joint and use 20 gallons of tar this time, you will get 20+yrs, Iíd check it around year 19

Donít let the razzing get to you, we are here to help

Thinking that is an old chimney, I would tear it down to the roof line , patch and shingle. end of problem. No buckets of black tar to worry about drying out and cracking.

I understand just patching it up.

You might want to set aside a weekend and choke it out for good.

Put it on the list
