Sleepless In Seattle

I've been here about a week, and probably should be looking at the sights rather than roofs, but I spotted something that I've never seen before and was curious as to how many roofers have done or seen this method.

Since a lot of clay tiles are used here, the place I'm staying at sparked my curiosity.

It's an asphalt roof that was applied to mimic the clay tiles.
Along the rakes, hip and ridge was cut in half and tucked under each course to give it the appearance of being a tiled roof.It actually looks pretty good.

I'll try and download a pic,but am on a burrowed lap top.

Anyone seen or done this before?

Hello,

It looks like Pro-Design hip and ridge. I think Malarkey makes it. I have seen a few here in AK.
