Industrial Re-roof Vs New Construction

We are Duro-last certified and going to be GAF certified soon. Duro-last pushes re-roofs and says do not chase new construction. Basically what I am asking is your opinions. Which do you like better? Re-roof or new construction - Commercial, industrial etc.

Re: Industrial Re-roof Vs New Construction

New construction is for start-ups &/or to keep your staff busy. Re-roofing is where the $ is. New construction is not sales-driven as re-roofing is.

With new construction you're typically dealing with no-nonsense GC's that know what they want & how much it's worth and they vet you - Also, your bidding against your peers that generally now what they're doing & are good at it, so it's very competitive, whereas with owners/property managers, well, they're more susceptible to BS, ("salesmanship")....and that's how that works.....

New construction can be brutal, you better put in your best bid and no screw ups.

Great stuff guys. I won't waste my time on new construction like I was going to. Now how do you get more re-roofing jobs?
