I'd like to second this thought in particular. There are a fair number of Canadians who participate here, but they are excluded from most of the giveaways and contest prizes. There has to be a way to get around that.

So now that it's been bought out by another company. How about letting banned members return if they would like . Mods my not like it but no one likes change in business.

It takes a lot to get perma-banned and there was good reason for it. Once it's done is done. There's no coming back.

You can simply call your SP and get a new IP. It's not that hard. However Tins is right, they have ways of finding out. I'm too much of a distinguishable prick that no matter what I did to mask my identity I would probably be discovered during my introduction post.

I will say that I was perma-banned by a MOD one time on another forum. That MOD got perma-banned a year later and I was able to come back. But it was only after reviewing the circumstances and being ruled that the ban was unwarranted.

If you figure it out let me know, retiring and moving somewhere warm would be nice right about now.

You'll need about $10,000 to just get the software and server. You'll also need a very large internet connection. Next you'll need to spend months and months designing, building and troubleshooting the forum (none of which ever stops). Once you have it somewhat operational you'll need several MODs to help you control the freak show that is about to start. They will need to be just as dedicated to it's success as you but without the promise of any compensation in return.

Now comes the tricky part, content. It may take a year just to get enough members to start to get some what amusing, at least enough that you will get some traffic and new blood.

After that year you will probably be out of money and completely discouraged. The site will slowly die and you will have wished you had spent the money on a new Quad or Jet Ski.

Nah, I just saw what happened to Angus. I was curious and asked him a lot of questions from the time he started it, until he shut it down.

I don't claim to know all about it, but I do know that it's not that easy and very expensive and most likely won't be an easy success.
