Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Vendor Section

I look forward to vendors adding their information---I strongly recommend you contact Laticrete and other makers of setting materials---

I don't see it giving this site any added benefits. I moderate another forum where we've tried this twice but it turned out to be anything but useful.

One thing that's good about most forums is that we are free to be brutally honest with each other in regards to our experiences, thoughts, and ideas. People who represent a vendor tend to give more of a "canned" response and they tend to duck and dodge difficult questions that would otherwise tarnish the brand if they were to answer honestly.

Like if you ask them, "Does your paint peel when it gets wet?" and they respond by saying, "We offer a whole line of products with superior weather resistant qualities that rival many of the well-known national brands." Huh?

It would be great if the vendor could say something like, "Well.. yeah.. if you get our bottom of the line product and paint it on vinyl siding, that crap will blister up every time you water your grass!" but most times they don't respond in that matter.

So if there was a way to bring in vendors that didn't have robotic responses or "form letters" prepared for every question, that would be fine.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Vendor Section

My problem is exactly what Ted has just said.
I would imagine getting the product BS instead of the real world results.
We hopefully will be getting useful information, but may end up getting the homeowner DIY type of flowery prose.
I do however have the right to remain silent.

For clarification, within the community, the rules will remain exactly as they are for everyone (no advertising) regardless of their membership status.

Our paid commercial vendors would be restricted to discussing their promotions within the vendor forum only.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Vendor Section

Ive been a member on this forum http://www.autopia.org/forums/ for a number of years, and other detailing forums. The vendor section is paramount to how the forum functions and how product gets moved. The owners sometimes are the ones posting, or people who are sitting in an office next to the owner. Slightly different then here, but the point is, if the vendors can make a personal contribution then it will be a hit.

Even at plowsite.com the vendors are hands on.

anything less and it will seem half baked with no heart just a place to put marketing dollars.

I also second this. I don't want all of that DIY stuff.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Vendor Section

Didn't read the thread but I'll be happy to visit and maybe end up purchasing if you guys can get rid of the videos that keep constantly forcing themselves on you... even when you hit pause, they start again... not to mention how bad it slows it up... it's so bad, I've gone to just hitting "mute" when on CT...

Was getting nightmares from the video that starts off with the video of the model on the runway...

We keep blocking them and somehow they keep finding a way through. I will report it again.
