That is not even funny. I drive an extra 10 min to another lumber yard that has better pencils when I am low.

We are always talking about this one white pencil I once had. It went for a couple days before it needed to be sharpened.

YKYAFW:
if your bedroom furniture was a mattress placed on a frame of 2x4's and 3/4' cdx scraps.

And your wife was happy to get it off the floor.

Re: You Know That You're A Framer When...

Quick story. I worked for a GC who gave me s#!t for bringing resin chairs to the job for lunchtime. He said it made it look like we were goofing off. I replied "Just because I'll club you over the head and drag your wife back to my cave, it doesn't mean I live like a Neanderthal."

I have around 4-5 boxes in a drawer in my garage. Since I've been working with metal, the pencils last a long time. Now I need to find a distributor that gives away Sharpies.

Re: You Know That You're A Framer When...

Got a box once from my former boss who was a superintendant at the time. Salesman gives him a box of pencils. He sets it down and they walk away talking. I empty out the whole box, drop in a 2x6 block cut to box length, and fill in over it with one layer of pencils. He soon figured it out, but it was funny and he never asked for the pencils.

You know your a framer when you can rationalize any new tool purchase to yourself regardless of how many are already sitting in the back of you truck or trailer.
