Spiral Stairs

I haven't been around much lately. Enjoying my retirement too much, I guess. I did have the opportunity to do another spiral stair job. I cut almost nothing myself, I did the layout, and installed the treads and the built-up stringer, but let the owner/framer do the grunt stuff. Had to pull a couple of tricks since the "drawer" (not archy) tried to fit too many steps in a 12' hole.

10 layers of 3/8' Flex-Ply, glued, screwed and tattooed! Applied Titebond to both surfaces with a paint roller.

Re: Spiral Stairs

Ok, 2 of those pictures only had 8 layers. Here's the 10-ply. Let it set for the weekend and then cut out the 2X4's.

Then, on to the basement set.

Re: Spiral Stairs

All finished up! I got out of the house for a few days and made a little Christmas money to boot.

Well, it's a naturalized Mexican remodel guy who hired a couple Mexican framers who used to work for me at one time or another. I guess I've come full circle.
