Fly Rafter By Yourself?

Is there a way to put a fly rafter up yourself? Helper didn't show up today and I wanted to get the roof on..
It's 20' long shed roof 4/12.
I've only dropped it once so far....

I work alone a lot. Anyway to build something temporary to set one end on while you work on the other end? Lots of trips up and down while working alone. Good luck

Good idea, an angle brace would probably do it, putting that up might be as awkward as the fly rafter though I'll give it a go in a bit here

Re: Fly Rafter By Yourself?

worked perfect, just fastened a 2x4 under the other rafters overhang. Easy peasy!
I feel dumb for not thinking of it!

Use what we call a "hang nail"

For a 4/12, nail a spike into the end of the fly 1/2" down, leaving it stick out about halfway. You can then rest the nail on the eave fascia while you nail the top.
