PVC Beadboard Ceilings (joist Spacing Question)

Azek's install document states a 12oc joist spacing for ceilings.
Existing bathroom has typical 16oc spacing with existing drywall.

If i nail the 16oc and run some pl premium behind am I committing a grave sin?

Your fine. The drywall should provide a nice backing. They don't want the Azek spanning over a wider joist space without any sheathing.

Not really, the tongue and groove locks it together pretty well. I like the Azek t&g better than cedar because the material is so consistent.

Agreed, if it's getting painted we use azek. The labor saving offsets the price difference and then some. I'm glad t&g pine isn't used much anymore, I hated wrestling with that crap.

Yea it's getting painted.
They want to avoid wood in the bathroom.

Wasn't sure if it was a requirement because of its weight or an appearance thing.

Thanks.
