Plastic Laminate Countertops. Anybody Seen Formica "Ideal Edge?"

If you can't afford stone, you might think of this. More expensive than other edges for plastic laminate countertops, but in the two shapes offered by Formica, this Ideal Edge product of theirs gives you either a bullnose or ogee that mimics stone and shows no brown lines.

If you have seen it for real, please comment. It is a hundred-and-twenty-mile round trip for me to go to a place that maybe has it, and probably not. Nothing closer.

I think its a great inovation, I hope this takes off!

The new stuff with granite like textures is great.

Now they just need to make matching edgebanding for backsplashes and such so you dont have to cut, glue, trim, sand, etc. just to put on a 3/4" piece of edgeband to a backsplash.

I think the down side to laminate is just the time it takes you to assemble everything. Too much labor for average builders, im not talking about shops that do this type of work daily.

Haven't used the Formica brand, but I've used the Wilson Art product.

Works well. Pay close attention when gluing it on, to get the top edge in perfect position.

Well its certainly not stone but its about as close as it get for a laminate product. The edge looks pretty nice but you have to have someone picky to put it on. If the edge is done right it looks sharp but it is easy to screw up.
