Car Siding Used Outside

I have a covered porch that I would like to cover the ceiling and the one wall with car siding. Neither would ever be exposed to any direct contact with rain but since it will be outside, temperature change and humidity will certainly be an issue. I'm in indiana so we get extreems in heat and cold and the associated humidity.

How would you top coat or treat the wood?

My thought was to simply use a wood sealer like I would on the decking.

If you're using T&G planking, I would suggest using an exterior grade would sealer. Like you mentioned, similar to what you would use on decking.

The couple I've done in the past, we used cedar and left it natural.

Too bad you didn't do a structural ridge, could've eliminated the tie

I plan on leaving it natural pine but I'd like to seal the surface

It was actually originally called box car siding. It was used in barns and to line box cars before plywood came around. Now it used primarily in remodeling for lining walls and ceilings.

I'd seal all 4 sides and then blind nail it.

I'm currently in Colorado Springs, moving here perminently in the next few months. I'm west of the town, Calumet Ave is behind my house.

I'll be home in a few weeks to get some things done on the house to put it on the market.

I thought I was the only one here who used auto rotators...

I've got two daughters out that way. It's always sunny out there. I made mine, what kind of car is that in there? Looks like a rear engine car of some sort.

Yes

Cleveland, all were 4 bolt mains.

This one has twin turbos, an Australian nickel block, produces 1200 hp to the wheels.
