Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

I back out after finding out it only works if you cut the trim flat on your saw. No way I could ever bring myself to do that..

Anyways, I like guessing, when your get it right the first time the sense of immense satisfaction is incredible. When you get it wrong you just adjust.

I cut all my crown laying flat. 99 % of the crown I run is 7 inch and over. In my area the smallest crown you find is 5.25", and my saw will not cut that rested either.

Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

That must be a nice area..

I couldn't do it. Most larger crowns we install are 3 or 4 different pieces not one large one.

I get it. Just not how I learned to do it, therefor not how I do it.

Perhaps you both could benefit from the digital protractor. You should buy one..

Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

Hey all;

Actually we have just completed our first round of Beta tests. We had 6 differnet people give it a try and got a lot of great feedback. We are now making a few more samples that include a lot of the suggestions we got from the testers and those should be done this summer. The final model should be on the market by the first of next year.

A further note to the cutting flat skeptics: The idea behind this product is to make it so easy to cut flat that you would never want to do it any other way. If we can't do that the product will not be successful.

Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

Tested the wixey against the bosch angle finder. The wixey is more accurate. The bosch is easier setup. I have found my bosch to be almost useless for the price. If the wixey can be had for a much better price it will be the clear winner in my opinon.

Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

May I ask, is this to cut crown on the flat using simple miters, or the coping method?

Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

This device is made specifically for cutting crown laying flat, using compound miters. It quickly measures the corner and provides the cut angles and displays a diagram of how to position the saw and the molding for each piece.

What ever happened to triagle or circle marking on saw. Always looking for shortcuts. Crown if taught how to do right is easy as pie. Get a couple of tester pieces and adjust from there.

Hey Gary. Thanks for checking in. The design is complete and we are making the tooling now. I hope to have this on the market before March.

What I like about the bosch is that it can save me several trips to the saw for those odd angles. I use the scrap piece method, but it nice to be within 1 degree when the saw is downstairs and on the other side of the house.

Re: Beta Testers Needed For New Digital Protractor

I received a new angle finder in the mail yesterday. I've tried emailing you Barry, but the email address I have is no longer valid. Would you get in touch with me please.
