Referral Thank You

What do you guys do?

I made fairly bad money (my fault) on my second job after moving to portland but they referred me to some extremely good clients who also have a good network of friends who want work done. They really jump started my business here. No advertising expense and I'm booked through the summer, and I'm the new guy in town.

They asked me to do one extra thing which I quoted them for. It'll take me one day. I was thinking of just doing it for free as a thanks. Too generous?

Re: Referral Thank You

I do that every so often for a good refferal sources. I coordinated a bathroom remodel for my interior decorator last month for free, built a stain grade alder cabinet, all soft close, full extension, and trimmed the bathroom for free. She got my price on material and subs. She tried to pay me but i said no.

That is a bit more than i usually would do, but she has sent us a lot of work over the years.

Re: Referral Thank You

I just give people like that the service they've earned, but I make sure they know I appreciate the referrals, and try to make them look good for referring me.

Re: Referral Thank You

We throw out bonus items on every job we do, this always leads to tons of referrals for us. It doesn't have to be big items but the customers always appreciate it. If you do this with all your customers you will do very well.
